Welcome!

Welcome to the KCSMA Parent Teacher Organization!

We believe that children are motivated to become lifelong learners when they are part of a thriving learning environment that includes active participation by their families, schools, and their community.   Our PTO exists to provide support for the educational, social, and recreational needs of the students and to promote open communication between parents, teachers, and administration in an atmosphere that is consistent with the educational philosophy of KCSMA.

Please visit this page often for the latest information on PTO sponsored events and volunteering opportunities.  If you use the FOLLOW feature, you will receive email notifications by email whenever there is a new post.   We use this page to post school information pertaining to activities of the PTO, but at times, we also share important school news.  You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter.

Although we provide support to KCSMA, the Parent Teacher Organization is a separate entity.  Therefore, for information related to school policies, procedures, or enrollment, please refer to the student handbook or contact the school directly.  You can find links to the KCSMA website and KCSMA Facebook Page on this page.

Teacher Appreciation Day October 31st

Teacher Appreciation Day
The PTO is happy to announce we will have a Teacher of the Month.  At the upcoming cookout style teacher luncheon we will have a drawing to pick the first PTO Teacher of the Month. This month he or she will get 2 movie and dinner passes to NCG theaters and a local restaurant. We will choose a different teacher each month at the teacher luncheons. This is just a small way to show our teachers how much we appreciate them.

The luncheon will be held on Friday, October 31st.
“COOK OUT”
Let’s join together and show our teachers and staff how much we
appreciate their hard work and efforts!

BOOK FAIR

book fair
It is Scholastic Book Fair time!!!  The book fair is a great opportunity to add books to your home library or purchase books to donate to your child’s classroom, and the school library will earn money to fill its shelves and add new technology.
The book fair offers hundreds of books, usually starting at $3.99.  There are also bookmarks, erasers, pencils, and other small items available, starting at 50 cents. You may view some of the items available at http://www.scholastic.com/bookfairs/fallesvideo/
Your child will visit the book fair with their class to preview the books and fill out a wishlist.  Starting on October 17th, you may send in cash, along with their wishlist, in a sealed envelope or baggie for your child to spend at the book fair  Be sure to include 6% tax.  Please mark your child’s name, their teacher’s name, amount enclosed, and write Book Fair on the envelope.  No checks will be accepted.
Parents are welcome to shop at the book fair, too.  The shopping hours may be viewed at the online shopping link.  The fair will be open during school hours, late on both Fridays, open late during some conference hours, and will be open during Safety Night.  Be sure to check out your child’s teacher’s wishlist if you would like to purchase a book to donate to their classroom.  Classroom wishlists will be available at the book fair.
You may also purchase books through October 26th at the online fair at http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/kennesawchartersciencemath  Feel free to share the online link with out of town relatives who may wish to shop for your child.  The books will be shipped to the school after October 26th, and there are no shipping charges.
This year, one of our goals is to ensure as many children as possible receive books and have  access to books.  One of the ways we can do that is through the All for Books program*.  With your help, all of the money collected goes to our school, to purchasing more books for KCSMA students, classrooms, and the media center.  During our  book fair in October 2013, we collected $538 through this program.  Let’s try to beat that during this book fair!  We will be collecting change at the book fair, and students may purchase $1 N.U.T. passes to be used on Friday,October 17th.   *Not only does your donation help our cause, but Scholastic Book Fairs will match monetary donations raised with a donation of up to one million books to two non-profit organizations dedicated to helping children, families, and teachers acquire books and educational resources – Kids in Need Foundation and Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc.
If you are interested in volunteering at the book fair, please sign up at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0849a9ae2e5-oct20141
If you have any questions, please email tamarabeeler74@gmail.com.  Thank you for supporting the KCSMA media center!
