PTO Co-Treasurer Position Filled
Join us in welcoming Thomas Price to the KCSMA PTO board. Thomas, a KCSMA parent, has volunteered to be Co-Treasurer and will work alongside the other Co-Treasurer, Chrystal Jacques. Effective immediately, Thomas will begin learning and performing the responsibilities of the role as the interim candidate. At the next PTO General Meeting, there will be a vote to formally elect him.
Thank you to all of our parent volunteers!

KCSMA Board of Directors Meeting Date Change
The December KCSMA Board of Directors meeting will be held on the 14th instead of the 21st. The meeting will be held in the KCSMA Research & Development Center.
We have several volunteering/donating opportunities available. For our holiday shop to be a great experience for our students, we need a lot of volunteers. Please feel free to invite grandparents and other family members to volunteer at the holiday shop.
We also have opportunities for donating items for our Canstruction event and Ongoing KCSMA needs. Click HERE to view all of the opportunitues.
The Gift of Giving
KCSMA Holiday Shop
From December 12th – 16th, the annual KCSMA Holiday Shop will be open for shopping. Students can purchase gifts for family, friends and themselves at prices ranging from 25 cents to $5.00. As parents, we know the joy in giving and are excited that our kids can participate in this experience. In order for the Holiday Shop to be an enjoyable experience for all, some donations would be greatly appreciated.
First, consider donating your time. The shop will be open during school hours and extended one day to allow families to come in and shop as well. Time slots are available to sign up to help in the shop or even to set up or take down the shop. Please CLICK HERE to see the available time slots.
Second, consider donating supplies. There will be a lot of taping and stapling going on that week to package up all the gifts. We need supplies as much as we need bodies. CLICK HERE to see supplies we would need.
Third, I’m calling all my crafty friends. These gifts would look great with bows attached. If you could donate bows to be added to bags, I would greatly appreciate it.
Last but not least, thank you! The Holiday Shop is hosted by the KCSMA PTO. From our families to yours, may you have a safe and happy holiday season!

NEW! On-Going Carpool Requests & Misc. Donations/Wishlist Items for 2016-17
One of the unique aspects of being a part of a charter school is that we try to be resourceful and use money wisely. We have created a SignUp to reach out to see if members of our school community have items just lying around their houses or have been wanting to donate things from their home. We know that a lot of us have things around our house that we are not using and would gladly donate (ink cartridges for printers that no longer work, craft items, etc.). We will be using this SignUp to reach out to ask for items that are needed in classrooms or the school before teachers or the school purchase these items. Teachers have been asked to let us know specific needs, and those teachers or grade levels have been noted in the SignUp.
This SignUp will be updated as needs change, so please check back often.

The holidays are quickly approaching, and the Room Parents have jumped on board to decorate the KCSMA halls and doors with Winter Delights. They have been tasked with developing grade level themes and decorating the doors using all donated and recycled materials. If you would like to lend a hand, please contact your class’s room parent to see how you can help. If you are unsure of your room parent or would be interested in leading this charge for your class, please contact Yvonne Longs, Room Parent Committee Chair, at email@example.com. Stay tuned as room parents will be reaching out for your help soon.
