Announcement from the Board:

As many of you know, Mrs. Frey has been out for a few weeks and advised us today that she will be out for an additional extended amount of time.  We all wish her the best for a speedy recovery.   I ask that you please respect her privacy and allow her to rest.   Mrs. Frey will be on leave and will not be monitoring emails, so if you wish to convey a message to her please contact the office staff and they will forward notes and cards to her.  Please do not call.   We all wish her the best for a speedy recovery.

In the meantime, other school management will be monitoring her email and forwarding any that require attention.  The board will be making a few administrative changes at our regular meeting Wednesday night to ensure the continuation of the support to our students, parents and staff.  We appreciate all of those who have picked up the extra work and gone the extra mile to cover things in her absence.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Ms Hicks (thicks@kcsma.net), myself (dpeeples@kcsma.net) or any of the board members (Kcsboard@kcsma.net)

Sincerely

Dave Peeples

Valentine’s for Seniors

20170213_143501♡♡♡Valentine’s Cards for Seniors♡♡♡

Last week, the KCSMA teachers and students answered a call to help in the community. NorthStar Church was seeking volunteers to make Valentine’s Day cards for senior citizens. Our teachers adopted seniors and set out to help the students create the cards. This was an opportunity to be creative, practice letter writing and most importantly, be contributors in our own community. We received a heartfelt thank you from Terri Reichert, Community Builder at NorthStar. Well done KCSMA teachers, students and families on being community helpers and brightening the day of others.

Thank you all for helping with the Valentine’s Candy and Cards for the Seniors at Daybreak Village.  We had more than 60 seniors that were treated to personalized Valentines and candies after a few rounds of BINGO.  They were overjoyed to say the least.  This is just another reason NorthStar is so special!  Thank you all so much!

Thank you for loving on our Community!

From, Terri Reichert

Your task is to make a device that can be used in the International Space Station. Take time to learn about the International Space Station and think about a device you think they need. Ideas for tasks your device might perform are: maintaining systems, conducting experiments, measuring data, keeping astronauts healthy, or entertaining astronauts. This challenge is a home-based challenge and all projects should be brought to the R&D Center on Thursday, March 9. Projects will be on display at the Lost in Space Night on March 10.
Your entry must include:
  • a diagram of your design which includes the name of your device and measurements for the real-life version
  • a prototype of your design
  • your name and teacher’s name on all pieces of your entry
2 winners will be selected for this design challenge. One will be selected by our partner in education judge and the other will be selected by families that attend the Lost in Space Night on Friday, March 10.
