Welcome to the KCSMA Parent Teacher Organization!
We believe that children are motivated to become lifelong learners when they are part of a thriving learning environment that includes active participation by their families, schools, and their community. Our PTO exists to provide support for the educational, social, and recreational needs of the students, staff, and administration in an atmosphere that is consistent with the educational philosophy of KCSMA.
Please visit this page often for the latest information on PTO sponsored events and volunteering opportunities. If you use the FOLLOW feature, you will receive email notifications by email whenever there is a new post. We use this page to post school information pertaining to activities of the PTO, but at times, we also share important school news. You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter.
Although we provide support to KCSMA, the Parent Teacher Organization is a separate entity. Therefore, for information related to school policies, procedures, or enrollment, please refer to the student handbook or contact the school directly. You can find links to the KCSMA website and KCSMA Facebook Page on this page.
We will be doing some work in the library over the summer and could use some help. We will be moving books, rearranging things, etc. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested. Dates and times will be decided. Volunteer hours will count for the upcoming school year. Older students are welcome.
•All for Books•
KCSMA families have gone above and beyond, again! We raised $1128 for the All for Books program during our most recent book fair. Because of the buy one, get one free deals, we were able to purchase over 300 books for our classroom libraries. The teachers have been so grateful for the new books.
Scholastic matches the amount we raise to give books to two charities that provide books to children in need. So, your donations (N.U.T. pass, coin drive, raffle tickets, and spare change) were twofold. Thank you!
•Used Book Drive•
We have received hundreds of books through our used book drive. The quality of the books has been amazing. We have received many current and popular titles to add to our classroom libraries.
The books are still being sorted, but they will be given to the teachers before school starts. These donated books are really helpful to new teachers who have not built up classroom libraries, yet.
We will hold another book drive next year, but if you are weeding your children’s books, we will take donations any time. If you shop at 2nd and Charles on Barrett Parkway, they have a free book bin. If you have time while there, grab a few books for the school.
Thank you to everyone who donated!
Please be sure to check your child’s backpack this week. Each student will be receiving a free Sparkles summer pass, courtesy of Sparkles and the KCSMA PTO.
Thank you to Anissa White for coordinating our Sparkles events and securing goodies like the free passes for our students!
This is one of the most fun things the PTO does every year. We surprised Coach M with a card and $250 in gift cards for being named Teacher of the Year. Congratulations, Coach M! We love you and cannot thank you enough for making PE something our kids look forward to.
♡♡♡♡Thank you, Miss Tara!♡♡♡♡
Whenever anyone has a question or needs something, the first thing you hear is, “Ask Tara.” She does so much for the school and is the PTO’s go to person.
She answers the phones. She assists every person who walks through the door. She loves on our kids. She unjams the copier. She encourages teachers who are having a rough day. She ties shoes. She gives hugs. She is the smiling face that greets us as we walk into the school.
We wanted Miss Tara to know that we understand how much she does for our school and how much we appreciate her. Today, we surprised her with a gift from the PTO to let her know that we, the parents, the teachers, and the families of KCSMA love her and are grateful to have her. Thank you, Miss Tara!
We just wanted to say a BIG thank you to all the KCSMA parents and staff that helped in making our Silent Auction a great success! You helped KCSMA raise $975 for the new STEM learning commons that will be a part of the library in the near future. Whether you helped organize, donated an item, or bought one of the fabulous finished products, we truly appreciate your support and generosity. Your kids will benefit from this for years to come.
