Welcome to the KCSMA Parent Teacher Organization!
We believe that children are motivated to become lifelong learners when they are part of a thriving learning environment that includes active participation by their families, schools, and their community. Our PTO exists to provide support for the educational, social, and recreational needs of the students, staff, and administration in an atmosphere that is consistent with the educational philosophy of KCSMA.
We need volunteers to work at the KCSMA Scholastic Book Fair. To make the most of the book fair experience for the students, we need many volunteers to assist the students with their wishlists and help with shopping.
Please sign up for as many slots as you want. 🙂 There are time slots during the day, other slots for set up, packing, and extended shopping after school on Fridays. YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER WILL RECEIVE A $5 SHOPPING CREDIT FOR EVERY SHIFT YOU WORK.
If you sign up for General Help Book Fair slots, you will be helping students fill out wish lists, choose books, keep sales floor tidy, etc. If you sign up for set-up or packing, you will be lifting boxes of books, moving tables and chairs, setting up or packing up books, etc.
The Book Fair is so much fun to work. It is a great opportunity to interact with the students and teachers and meet other school parents.
Volunteers who work 2 or more shifts at this Book Fair will receive a 20% discount on purchases at this Book Fair.
The PTO board meeting for January 10, 2017 will be rescheduled.
Due to concerns regarding continued icing both on roads and at schools, and after consulting with the Cobb DOT and local law enforcement, Cobb Schools will be completely closed tomorrow out of an abundance of caution.
Students AND staff should NOT report. Schools will be closed completely.
Girls Coding Party – Next Friday, Jan 13.
In an effort to encourage girls to pursue their interest in coding and information technology, we will be hosting a Girls Coding Party. This is an opportunity for the girls to get together and enjoy coding in a fun environment. The event will be self-paced with the girls working on select activities and hopefully sharing their products. We will offer some light snacks at the event. Spots are limited and are first come first serve. This opportunity is only for 4th & 5th grade students. Please list one student per sign-up slot. Students will come to the event directly after carpool and will be ready for pick-up at 6:00pm sharp. If you would like to attend the event with your student, please let us know in the comments. We have about 10 slots left for 4th & 5th grade girls interested in our Girls Coding Party.
*Any student not picked up at 6:00pm will be placed in ASP where all fees will apply.
** Girls may bring their own device to use if they would like.
